Nicknames

Throughout the course of life, people are bound to be given nicknames. Some are good names while others are bad. I would argue that nickname plays a good role in placing a bookmark of yourselves on others’ mind. Nickname can also be used to measure social interactions. If you are more sociable(aka one who is more prone to be played a prank on), you are bound to get more nicknames from your friends.

Since young, I have been given plenty of nicknames by my family members and friends. Let me list some of them here:

By my family…

1.  Ai cai (shortie) - I "was" the shortest in my family when i was young.

2. Yia tuai (pampered child) - who to blame? I am the youngest in the family.

By the parent’s friends:

3. Yan Dao Ba (handsome boy) - I "was" handsome when i was young but I am not sure I still am now.

4. Bi Kok Kia (Western child) - By the salesperson, is tat a marketing strategy or is it a compliment on my nose??
